Default Snowflower Preserve TTN

We just finished an enjoyable two week stay at this Membership Campground, located off of I-80 at the Yuba Gap area in the Sierra Mountains. Sitting at 5500-6000 ft. elevation, it's cooler daytime temperatures were a welcome respite from the 100 degree plus temperatures of the Sacramento Valley below. This campground is operated by Thousand Trails/NACO/Leisure Time Resorts and is associated with Resort Parks International (RPI).

The campsites are all Electric(30 Amp) and Water only with two dump stations available, plus a for fee honeywagon service. The campsites vary from rustic among the pine trees, and some near the lake, to asphalt parking lot type parking which is near the pool, recreation sites and the lodge Most very large rigs use this area, as many campsites in the upper areas are difficult for larger rigs to easily navigate.

The Lodge is the center of activity, with free wi-fi access available in the loft, games (pool, foozeball, and air hockey) for the kids, and breakfast and dinner served on the weekends by the small kitchen staff.

SnowFlower is named after the elusive flower that appears during the Spring melt and lasts but a short time. We usually can find one while hiking around but the unusually dry Spring this year has made it nearly impossible to find one.

Picture 2 shows the Lodge with the horshoe pits and shuffleboard court nearby.

Picture 3 shows the "Cliff Area" campsites, an area where the early pioneers are said to have stopped and camped during their trek across the Sierra.

It was a great camping trip to Snowflower. It is located about 20 miles from the town of Truckee to the east, which is near Donner Lake and the Donner State Park, and about an hours drive from the
attractions at Lake Tahoe with plenty of history in between.

I apologize for the oversizes photos. I thought they automatically sized for posting. I'll figure it out eventually, but if someone can clue me in, it would help.--Paul
