Default Trailer Shocks

When should I replace the shocks on the trailer? It's 7 yrs old and has 287K miles on it in the 6 yrs I've owned it. I don't see any leaks or damage and have no idea how the trailer rides although I think if there were problems, folks I've traveled with would have said something or I'd picked up on a bounce when looking in the rearview mirrors.

Is this something, like tires, that should be replaced over time, regardless of use or abuse?
