Air bag suspension assist

I've decided to put a set of air bag rear suspension assist on my 2006 F250 diesel.

I have done some initial research and obviously have encountered many brands/makes/models/etc.

I'd like to open this to discussion...
Does anyone have any positive experiences from a product/mfg standpoint?

Pros / Cons to different systems?
Onboard compresser vs. valve stem style?

NOTE - Let's set aside the discussion of getting a bigger truck (won't happen) and the discussion of what one should/shouldn't haul or tow with an F250. I'm putting airbags on the truck... I just need help narrowing down the choices.

Thanks everyone!!

New Ride: 2011 GMC Yukon Denali

We purchased a new 2011 GMC Yukon Denali on Friday from James Wood Motors in Decatur, Texas.

It will be my wife's daily driver and our around town vehicle. I still have my 2002 Chevrolet Suburban K2500 for towing the SunnyBrook.

The Yukon Denali is rated to tow 8300 lbs with its 6.2 ltr engine. So, in a pinch I can tow the SunnyBrook with it.

The Denali is very plush. Even has air conditioned seats, which is a BIG plus here in Texas.

The only down side is paying for it....:shocking:

Hi All,
I'm a newbie and am trying to figure out what to buy. The 4x4 truck is high so will a 5th wheel work without too much unbalanced height? If I were to go the TT route, I worry about the diesel brake and the "bump" some talk about. After lots of reading I leaning on a smaller 5th wheel but am still unsure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!:)

GM Diesel Oil Filters

For those that change their own oil & filter whose brand do you use and have you done any research on the filtering effectiveness of each brand.

I have looked at the following brands.

AC Delco
Wix
Napa Gold
Donaldson
Baldwin

From what I can find out it looks like the Baldwin has the best filtering qualities as far as microns both for high and low RPM and pressures.

I was scared away from using Puraltor (sp) early on in my oil changing days and have never given them a second look. There was very little filtering media in the one I cut open and I said nope its not going to happen again.

Any comments appreciated.

the water temperature gauge in our daughter's 2000 Tahoe with a 5.3 V8 shows from 0 - 260 degrees .... the reading in the center of the scale is 210 and in normal, non-towing operation the needle usually registers just below that amount .... the only red mark on the scale is the one at 260 .... when towing heavy, in high outside temps, at 60+/- mph, how high would one expect the temp gauge to read and still be in the normal operating range

Well the Ford F150 we currently own did a good job on flat land last year (towing capacity 11000 lbs but it is only a XLT 4.6 Triton never overheats so we know it is not under stress) but we have trouble with hills. It just doesn't want to climb any!!

We are in the market for a new truck....Must be a FORD.

We currently tow a 26FT Gulfstream Innsbruck, might trade up in the next year or so to a 5th wheel. Innsbruck dry weight 4750 and loaded 7500 lbs max.

Now looking a Ford F250 Diesel truck will be used for towing travel trailer only. Keeping F150 because dh is too attached to sell.

Please help us in our research....we are getting confused!

I am heading to Colorado and Wy Yellowstone, then to Idaho and down to Utah. Do you think exhaust brakes are necessary for a trip like this?

I currently tow a 2006 Dutchmen 18B with a 2003 GMC Sierra SLE 2wd with the 4.8L V-8 in it.
Pickup handles the camper fine for what we use it for--short trips to state parks and campgrounds within 200 miles or so.
We are now talking about adding some distance to our trips, and I am starting to think I may need something a little beefier than what we have.

One of our local dealers just took in an '01 F250 with the Triton V-10.
It is in great shape,63,000 miles, etc.

I only put about 8-10,000 miles a year on pickup, and with the V-10 expect my towing mpg to stay about where it's at now.

My only concerns are about reliability of the V-10 and tranny. I know
the 5.4 Triton's are great engines, but are the V-10's too?
How about the transmission? This one was used for 5th wheel
towing, don't know how big or how much. Is there an "life expectancy"
of the engine and tranny?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Pat
