Question for JEBar (Jim)

Jim,
Was told on another forum (IRV2) that Jayco does not advocate the addition of pin box extenders (or would that be extended pin boxes) on some-all-most? of their trailers. Any comments on this?

Dry Camp/ BoonDock water refill system

I've been wanting to set up a pump system to transfer water from my truck bed into our travel trailer for a couple years. This last weekend I went to Harbor Freight to pick up a 12 volt water pump. Once I got there and saw how lite-duty the pump was and how short the leads were, so I changed my mind and bought a AC powered cast iron pump which is much more capable. 1" Clear Water Pump (http://www.harborfreight.com/1-inch-clear-water-pump-1479.html)

I figured one way or the other I'd have to start my generator so I might as well just run the pump off AC.

Started out with the issue of going from 1" to 1/2th-- no problem-- PVC to the rescue.
Image: http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s176/jpbeck1/DSCN0178.jpg

Next hurtle was the priming issue. This is not a self priming pump so I rigged up a 5 gallon tank to accept a 1/2 hose. I bought a cut off valve and screwed it into the tank.
Image: http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s176/jpbeck1/Levi%20and%20Lisa/DSCN0172.jpg

Next I had to wire the pump up. I bought a 14 gauge extension cord and cut about 6 feet off the male side and wired it to the pump. Then I drilled a hole in the plastic cover installed a switch.
Image: http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s176/jpbeck1/Levi%20and%20Lisa/DSCN0171.jpg
The pump is extremely fast. It drains the 40 gallon tank in about 4 minutes.
Image: http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s176/jpbeck1/DSCN0181.jpg
All I have to do is back the truck up in front or on the side of the trailer, plug the pump in to the trailer, turn on the generator, and prime the pump.
I can also use the pump to drain our pool-- so everything worked out perfect. A self priming pump would have been nice but it's not a deal.

26 in. Flat Screen Replacement/ Mounting

With inspiration from BC Jim and an idea from my wife, Here is my new flat screen mount arrangement.
M260VA - W - LED LCD HDTVs | VIZIO (http://www.vizio.com/led-lcd-hdtvs/m260va-w.html)

This is a TV tray from an old amoir. It rotates and slides out.
Attachment 9260 (http://www.myrvtalk.com/attachments/mods/9260-26-flat-screen-replacement-mounting-img_0001.jpg)

Mounting apparatus bolted to Lazy Susan
Attachment 9261 (http://www.myrvtalk.com/attachments/mods/9261-26-flat-screen-replacement-mounting-img_0002.jpg)

Painted and mounted
Attachment 9263 (http://www.myrvtalk.com/attachments/mods/9263-26-flat-screen-replacement-mounting-img_0005.jpg)

Bracket for mounting TV. Adjusts up/ down angle.
Attachment 9262 (http://www.myrvtalk.com/attachments/mods/9262-26-flat-screen-replacement-mounting-img_0006.jpg)

Mounted TV in position for connecting cables.
Attachment 9264 (http://www.myrvtalk.com/attachments/mods/9264-26-flat-screen-replacement-mounting-img_0009.jpg)

Finished Installation.
Attachment 9265 (http://www.myrvtalk.com/attachments/mods/9265-26-flat-screen-replacement-mounting-img_0010.jpg)

I plan to keep it in place by drilling a hole in front of the TV mount for a 1/4 in drop pin. TV weighs 13 lbs. The rollers are pretty tight and it does not move around but this will hold it in place while on the road.

While working in the hole, I have been having trouble with the power receptacle in that hole. I removed the push on outlet, installed a shallow box and put in a regular outlet/cover. I had to enlarge the hole approx. 1/4 inch on each 2 sides.

Carrying a Motorcycle

I'll just be up front about this... As much as I enjoy a nice motocycle ride, I have very little interest in carrying a motorcycle full-time around the country. All I see is added expense and hassles. I also worry about the added weight and what that would mean - but you can see that I added that last. However, I was told to ask, so here I am asking ---

Does anyone carry a motorcycle on the back of their Sunnybrook (5th wheel)? We're not talking scooters...he wants something big enough to carry both of us. The added weight on the pin and on the tires seems to be a issue when we talk to people. Thoughts???

I'd rather have kayaks...help me out, Norty! ;)
