Default Bank Card Fraud

OK so I freely stipulate that fraud prevention is a GOOD thing .... that said it can also be a major pain .... yesterday I pulled into the Flying J in Sioux Falls, SD to fill the truck .... it has a tank on each side so I had to run my debit card twice (once at the pump on each side) .... it took the card on the first pump but wouldn't on the second .... instead it gave a see cashier note on the pump's screen .... Maureen went in, took the card and they turned the pump on .... when she went back in to pay for the fuel and propane, all went well .... OR SO I THOUGHT .... what I didn't know was she ended up having to use her card and forgot to tell me about it .... today she was off with her sisters and I went to Fleet Farm which is my favorite store .... went to pay for an item and the card was declined .... my thought were, well seeing as how we are in Mayberry, I won't say exactly what my thoughts were .... got back to the camper and found out that Maureen's card had been working well (and often ) all day .... they are on the same account but do have different numbers .... called back east and talked to our Credit Union ... the person there said there was a block on my card and transferred me to their fraud prevention unit .... in the end, all is well .... one of their computers had picked up the two quick uses of the card in SD and sent out an alert .... they called our home and didn't get an answer (imagine that ) so they blocked the card because they were afraid it had been stolen .... all is well but the moral of the story is if you are going out of state it might pay to let the folks you bank with know .... from what we were told, financial institutions are beginning to take a much more active approach to fraud prevention
