Default Excursion Hitch

I have an '02 Excursion that we bought used with 46,000 miles. It had the electric brakes controller and air bags in the rear. So, it was obviously used for towing. We've put 40,000 miles on it, including 2 trips from L.A. to Mississippi, one to South Dakota and many more "local" trips. Today, I put a Mickey Mouse hitch cover on it for my DW. Well, as I put the pin in, I noticed that the pin hole on the hitch (Excursion side) is elongated a little, and there is an area at the bottom of the hole that has the steel pushed out, sort of like it was soft and was squeezed, and had to go somewhere (I'll try to get some pix to describe this better soon). So, obviously I'm concerned about the condition of my hitch. I don't think it's catastrophic failure, but I'm not willing to keep using it in case I'm wrong. So, I turn the the collective brain-trust here. What would you do? If "replace it" is the answer, with what? Welded? Bolt in? Brand? Websites with the cheapest prices? I remember a whole thread at the old SBT forum about welded vs. bolt in, but that is gone.

Thanks.
