Default BOSTON (Fireworks Or Any Visit) PARKING OR TRANSPORTATION

From our personal experiances, we found that parking on the north side of the Charles River...at the Lechmere Station (Green Line) Parking Lot in Cambridge was one of the best decisions we ever made for our Fourth Of July visit.

We used the Boston Transist system to easily get in to Boston. BUT, even better yet...we were only about 10 blocks from the Boston Fireworks viewing locations along Memorial Drive and the Charles River.

However, there is NO reason not to use the Lechemere Transit station as a staging spot for any visit to Boston

We got off of I 93 at Exit 26 Northbound, over the Charlestown Bridge into Charlestown and then left into Cambridge via Austin St. Crossing the Gilmore Bridge, and turning right onto Monsignor O'Brien Parkway...you will find the parking lot on the NORTHBOUND side of Monsignor O'Brien Parkway...opposite the Lechmere Station. Look for the "T" Parking sign on the corner

The parking was only $3.50 for ALL day parking, and considering how expensive it was for parking in Boston, this was great. (Parking spots on the street are near impossible, the streets crowded and difficult to get around on in Boston) You can get a 24 hour Transit pass for ONLY $9.00.

Taking the Green Line into Boston, we got off at the Haymarket Station to see the sites on the North end of the Freedom Trail.

Going back to the SAME Haymarket Transit Station and getting on the Orange Line, heading south to Downtown Crossing station gets you to the southern end of the Freedom Trail and it various historical sites.

MANY OTHER TOURIST AND HISTORICAL SIGHTS CAN BE SEEN AND ACCESSED VIA THIS METHOD...costing only $3.50 for parking and $9.00 per person for the 24 hour transit pass. Children 11 & under are free.

Here's a couple of important link to the July 4th Fireworks info site and the Boston Transit Site:
