I was getting my 5ver ready for camping and was putting in the batteries and while I was doing so, I accidentally touched the wire from one battery to the roof and saw a few sparks that I never want to see again. To fix this problem I had some magnetic vent cover material and cut it up and installed it on the "roof" of the battery compartment. The side exposed to the batteries is vinyl and should prevent any sparking, the other side is magnetic and "sticks" to the roof beautifully. I should have no more sparking on the roof if I accidentally touch the roof with the go-between wires. Anyone see any downside to this fix before I leave it in there permanently? I thought it was pretty clever if I do say so myself!
Attached are a few pictures of the easy mod.........
