Default Lackland AFB FAMCAMP

My wife and I took our first long distance trip to San Antonio to visit our daughter, son in law, and grandson. Being retired Air Force, we stayed at the Lackland AFB FAMCAMP.

We had a very enjoyable stay, the campground is located near Wilford Hall Medical Center on the base, with the commissary, base exchange, and AAFES auto service center close by.

Free wi-fi, free washer and dryer use, clean and modern bathhouse, all in all a pleasant experience. We stayed in the section with water and electric only, the premium sites with sewer and cable TV are fully booked and have a waiting list.

The FAMCAMP is minutes away from Sea World and local malls, and you can catch VIA buses cheaply right outside the gate.

We made the trip from the Florida panhandle in one day, which was pushing it, but we got a late start. Next time we will take two or more days to make the trip. But it was the first time we went anywhere other than local with our fifteen year old Jayco fiver, which did extremely well. Some of the parts are showing their age, but that will be attended to before spring.

This is my first post here, glad I found this site.
