Default SunnyBrook Clearance

We just purchased a 2006 Sunnybrook Titan and one of the first things that I noticed was the clearance between the landing legs and the ground. The distance is much less than I had with my previous 5th wheel. We live on Vancouver Island and have to take a ferry back and forth, on our last trip one of the deck hands warned us that the clearance between the landing legs and the top of the ferry ramp might be a problem, I ended up taking off the "feet" and sliding the leg all the way up. Is this a normal problem and what solutions do I have. Thanks
Michael
