Default Information Alert ... warning, long post

beginning note this thread could have justifiably been stated equally as well under the RV Dealer section ... because we, thankfully, have a steady stream of new members, I feel the need to make the following comments prior to launching into the real reason for this thread .... for several years I have been involved in RV sales and have had the pleasure to tour numerous manufacturing facilities of several different companies .... that has allowed me to make personal contact with a wide range of folks who have a finger on the pulse of the industry that I could never hope to equal ... based upon numerous, on going conversations with those folks who are literally spread from ocean to ocean, I believe that trends are clear to the point our folks on this forum should be advised .... out of respect for my relationship with those folks, I will not name names so those who read this can take it as my best (for whatever that may be worth) consolidation of the information available .... bottom line, the next few months may well be historic in the evolution of the RV industry in our country ... recent known events where company after nationally known company have gone bankrupt may well pale in comparison for what could easily be just over the horizon .... based on all I am hearing, I'd strongly recommend all folks who are considering buying a new camper take a long, hard look at the brand you are considering and the dealership you are considering buying from ... I fear that way too many folks buying new campers today will find that their manufacture won't be around to honor the full term of the warranty (that is a shame because many only have a 1 year warranty and the companies I hear negative news most often are heavily found among that group) .... if you walk onto a lot that has a large number of class A motor homes, be very careful .... that dealership has an inventory that requires mega bucks to maintain in a market that simply can't support sales of those units .... I have personal knowledge excellent companies (note the use of the plural form) whose orders are down 50% and who have positioned themselves to survive .... unfortunately, I have personal knowledge of some that don't appear to have much of a chance ... in short, do your homework prior to buying a product or from a dealership

Jim
