Indian automaker Mahindra is on track to sell the TR-series diesel trucks after completing all federal tests and is set to submit certification paperwork to the government in January. Final federal approval is expected in February; the trucks would then finally go on sale in the spring.
Mahindra Pickup Side Mahindra’s spring release would finally put a diesel-powered light-duty truck into the hands of the U.S. consumer, after much delay. Barring a swift change in plans from Ford, GM, or Chrysler, the Mahindra TR-series would be the only offerings in its segment.
I haven't seen any test results concerning it's use as a tow vehicle, but considering the HP/torque (140/236) rating of the engine, it could serve the light to medium towing duty very handily. Mahindra's reputation in tractor equipment should lend creedance to it's endeavor into the American light duty diesel truck arena.
