  • Verizon JetPack or Mifi

Last week we signed up for Verizon’s totally unlimited internet data plan using our old Jetpack that we were told by 3 different Verizon places was out of date and couldn’t be used on their system any more. We had put the unit on suspend maybe 5 or 6 years ago and it’s been sitting in a drawer ever since.

My nephew who is in to such things told me about the unlimited plan that he had just signed up for. I took my old unit over to his house and he went to work checking on the Verizon site if our old unit was truly no good. It turned out our unit was just fine along with the old SIM card that was still in it. Within 20 minutes we were signed up and the unit was working just fine.

The plan costs $75 a month with taxes included and if you set up auto pay it’s $70. This is a home run for us as we were having a very hard time finding a good internet provider. We use Consumer Cellular for our phone service and had been using their data plan. Their data plan tops out at 10 gigs and then you get throttled back to basically dial up speeds. It isn’t hard to go over 10 gigs with 2 phones.

This plan is truly unlimited with no throttling back no matter how much data you use. Very few of the Verizon stores know this plan even exits and they will try to sell you new equipment and get you into a contract. This unlimited plan has no contract and is month to month so you can start and stop it as needed.

We are really enjoying being to surf the net watch videos, Netflix and movies with no thought about data usage. I ordered a Roku so we can use the plan with our TV also.

Can you tell I’m excited and happy to have full capacity back as far as using the internet. I am.

We just converted to a Verizon unlimited plan also. It's called the Go Unlimited plan. After the veterans discount, it's about $15 less a month than I have been shelling out.

I have a 4g jet pack but I'm not using it. We just use the phone hot spot.

I looked up the plan and at 600kbps it's almost as slow as dialup. No thanks.

Ours isn’t slow but I wouldn’t call it blazing fast either. It’s as fast as we had with a Verizon plan when we lived in NJ which was a Fios fiber optic cable. I have tried to find the link to the plan but wasn’t able to find it. I have asked for help from my nephew when he is back from his vacation. I would guess Sunday. At any rate this is working for us at this time.

It’s listed as Verizon Tablet and Jetpack plan. The plans that come up when you do a search are basically 3. It is non of those plans. Don’t know why Verizon is making it so hard to find. My nephew is back home and working today. I expect to have the link tomorrow. Best Buy also has a new Jetpack on sale for $29.99. I think it might be faster than the one we own which is probably newer than the one you have. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.
