has anyone else been following the History Channel's "The Curse of Oak Island" since it first aired back Jan 5, 2014 .... numbers of different treasure hunters have been looking for treasure on the island for over 150 years .... some bits and pieces have been found while untold millions of dollars have been spent .... the island is a curiosity for sure but its getting to the point where its hard to believe they will find anything that comes close to being worth what's been spent

Reminds me what a gold miner told me in the small settlement of Border Alaska.

good analogy .... I'm doubting that there is anything there for them to find that is worth anywhere near what has been and is being spent

I'd much rather watch the history channel - or PBS at least the shows have some truth to them.

I watched a few episodes and quickly got bored.

It was like that Geraldo special on Al Capone's vault. I was fuming that I watched the whole thing and there was nothing in it!

I know it is reality TV, all a big put on but still interesting, I just wish they would find something.

My wife and I enjoy it and have followed it since it started--read the story in the Readers Digest many years ago and when the show popped up, I was interested. Seems to be better than some of the other 'reality' shows, but this one, too, seems to now be for TV income, not only treasure-hunting.
Having a background in drilling, they made lots of mis-steps in how they got to the point of using the big caisson and clamshell--but still I like to watch it.

I'd love to know the TV income for this show .... I don't get the impression that the History Channel has the mega bucks of other such networks .... the cost of prepping and using the big caisson and clamshell had to be very expensive

They make the cash in advertising. They can have 4 ads at a time on the screen during these shows.
And possibly a scroll across the bottom.
You buy a big screen, and those ad tags just get bigger.
Sometimes when they print across the bottom of the screen, what a person is saying, the ads get in the way.
Reminds me of an old song I like,
                    Signs, Signs, everywhere Signs.

last night's 2 hr season finale pretty much did what it was supposed to do .... that being to find just enough to get folks to tune in next season .... hey, after spending umpteen million dollars this season, they did find an old gold plated button from an English military uniform .... the brothers running the project have to be really well off .... or at least were really well off when they started looking for the fabled treasure of Oak Island
