History channel has been running rehashes and out takes for the past several weeks trying to stir up interest. I am guessing the show has nearly run its course even though it is wildly popular. A cliff hanger type series... how much longer can it move forward especially if nothing is ever really found other than small teasers? I am willing to go out on a limb and guess the show may be seeing its last season. Folks may start wondering if there really was a treasure on Oak Island and if so, did someone already find it and are the boys just chasing ghosts.

understood .... I've been wondering that for the last couple of seasons .... the brothers have been and still are spending mega bucks up there .... to me, that suggest they do believe there is something up there left to find

the second first hour was mostly recapping the high points of last season and introducing a couple of new team members .... second hour included more finds by Gary Draper, he's remarkable .... also setting up new, large equipment to drill in the swamp + a redesign of the water barrier in Smith's Cove .... teaser for next week suggest major action at Smith's Cove and in the swamp

on a positive note, adding drilling in the swamp should help settle the need or lack thereof for spending time and money searching it .... unlike drilling a hole at a spot where they are think something might be down there, the core drilling in the swamp is aimed at a specific target .... the core sample will either contain wood or it won't and they don't have to go down very deep to find it .... I can't help but wonder how thick the layer of sediment is that is covering the "ship?" .... in thinking about it, I can see a determined group digging and building an underground vault to store their "treasure" .... I can also see bobby-trapping it .... to seal off a strip of water between two islands, sink a large ship and fill in behind it, makes no sense to me .... on the one had it makes no sense to go to all that work and sink an empty ship .... it also makes no sense to me sink one with something valuable that I hope to come back and retrieve later .... oh well, I guess we will see

When you use "makes no sense to me" in conjunction with Oak Island, that makes no sense to me! The main take away for me was the finding of the stone mason's cutting tool. It obviously was used to make lines in stone and not a chisel and hope they do actual age dating on the thing, if possible. The finding of that stone pathway in the swamp? If you want to sink a ship, why go to the trouble and then build the dams to make the place a swamp to cover a sunk ship. Why build a pathway? You must have something fairly substantial to unload? The cliff hanger was the first drill. Hope they get to SOMETHING next week other than "mysterious clues"!

I would call that nothing in regards to what they are purportedly searching for...

well, the much ballyhooed sunken Spanish galleon in the swamp has turned out to be another nonstarter .... for me, Gary Draper's finds continue to be most interesting
