we are camped in east central South Dakota where its 67 degrees this morning .... its supposed to get up to 85 later today with a 0% chance of rain .... folks in town are still clearing falling tree limbs from a strong thunderstorm yesterday .... home sump pumps are still trying to keep ahead of rising ground water .... many acres of farm land cannot be planted this year

Waynesville should be a good place to be for the next few weeks .... 69 this morning (98% humidity) in Estelline, SD on its way to 86 with a 40% chance of late afternoon thunderstorms .... breakfast sausage sure smells good and a steaming cup of coffee is helping get the day started ...burgers on the grill on tap for later today

I might add that afternoon coffee is the norm here. Every day about 3:30 at least one of my family members shows up for coffee and cookies. This tradition goes back as far as can remember

following a brief thunderstorm around 2AM, we awoke to 67 degrees and as clear blue sky with a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms and a projected high of 81 degrees .... very unusual 4th in that this year there aren't any fireworks stands in town this year .... so far, we've only heard a single firecracker bang .... coffee out of a Luckenbach mug brings back our visit there a few years ago

Back to the "rain routine" in eastern South Dakota as well .... it set in a couple of hours before daylight and is still coming down .... the pictures below tell a small part of the story .... the basement sump pumps in town are pumping at full force .... switched over from coffee to iced tea early today

I just looked up Estelline on the map....my DIL's family lives in Millbank, in the NE corner. Sure is cold in the winter up there.

68 low last night, headed to 83 later today ....about a quarter of four this morning a bright flash of lightning, instantaneously followed by a very loud clap of thunder announced the arrival of a heavy rain storm that 5 hours later is still hanging on .... the pictures below were just taken outside of our campsite in east central South Dakota ..... the paved sites next to us are underwater .... they must have one heck of a sump pump in the basement of the house across the road from us .... we've been here going on 4 weeks and its basically run nonstop .... coffee in a Luckenbach mug relaxing looking out the window at water world

62 degrees with a 20 mph wind where we are camped in east central South Dakota .... in short, its rather cool outside .... headed to a predicted high of 76 with only a 20% chance of rain .... it will take me several cups of coffee before I'm ready to get out and about this morning
