OK, there are a many, many jokes out there about the US Post Office .... this is not a joke .... on December 16th my wife mailed a package to some of her relatives in South Dakota from our local Post Office .... the info shown below is taken from the USPS Tracking Number ....

All shipping has gone straight into the toilet lately, USPS & FedEx are the two worst, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the Christmas Season.
Two weeks ago, my daughter sent a simple letter from, Lanexa, Va. To Plattsburgh, NY, normally a 4 day trip by USPS, this time it made it All the way to Richmond, Va in those 4 days, a total of 35 minutes by car.

Jim, after re-reading your original post, there just so much wrong with that shipping, BUT really weird is that it arrived And departed San Juan in 1 minutes, did the pilot realize in that one minute that he was in the wrong place ?

I stopped by the local Post Office a few minutes ago .... 1 person working the counter .... 3 people in front of me (all standing on the appropriate blocks on the floor) ... the line moved quickly and by the time I reached the window, 4 others were in line behind me .... asked to see the Post Master .... the person at the window said she needed to know what its about .... I gave her a quick description and when I got to telling her that according to their tracking it landed in Puerto Rico this morning, the folks in line were laughing .... the Post Master tuned out to be a very nice young lady checked her computer and told me she had no clue why but it most certainly should not have happened .... she went on to say all they will tell her is Covid .... she went on to say that there are tens of thousands of packages that have been misdirected or even worse, lost in the system .... while standing there I heard the lady working the counter talking to a fellow who wanted to send an business letter to NY by 2 or 3 day mail .... she told him at this time that service doesn't exist, that it taking 10 to 15 or more days to get regular mail from NC to NY ..... the Post Master said that our package is being returned to the US but sadly it will most likely go to California .... she said its highly likely it will take days (if not weeks) to get out of there and on its way to South Dakota

Bought a couple of small items from an eBay seller and was a bit annoyed that after a few days it appeared that the seller never actually sent the items; only pulled a tracking number. The seller had actually posted the item on the 21st but it never got scanned until it showed up at my local post office on a Sunday (they are closed on Sundays so not sure how that happened). Our local mail carrier usually drops off about 50 parcels per day and was at about 300 pre-Christmas so this bulk may explain some of the confusion.

It's unfortunate that even the local post office has no clue what's going on, when my wife went to check on a problem with certain mail, the local post master said "I have no idea what that F****** mess in Richmond is doing"

unfortunate indeed .... as noted in post 6 that's pretty much the same message, without the "colorful" language that I got from the Post Mistress at our local branch .... earlier today Maureen received an item purchased from Kohl's and post marked as being shipped from Indiana on Dec 3rd .... 26 days to get it from there to central NC .... there is no excuse for
