we just learned that Bea's funeral is scheduled for 2PM Friday .... it will be in a town 25 or so miles west of Asheville which is right at 300 miles west of us .... we plan to drive up that morning, spend the night at a cousin's home in Asheville and return home Saturday .... on the one hand, we dread it because of the reason for the trip .... on the other hand, we are looking forward to going because we will get to visit with several cousins we haven't seen in all too many yearsJim

Jim, my condolences for your loss. I have an aunt (my fathers youngest sister) who is 98 years old, her husband is 99. She is still sharp as a tack and such a joy to visit with each time we meet. I too dread the loss when she and he pass, I depend on her for family history that is not recorded anywlhere.

Jim, sad to hear of your loss. Bet you have some great memories.
RBT, listened to many stories on wife's side of family, was too stupid to get them recorded. Heard some first-person accounts of the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing. Sadly, only failed memories now.

just got back home from attending Aunt Bea's funeral .... the 300+ mile drive yesterday to west of Asheville, NC went well .... beautiful weather .... Maureen's Camaro performed extremely well .... cruised at speeds of up to 88 (yes 88) mph and averaged 31.2 mpg ... it rained this morning for the first 100 or so miles .... our return drive today was at a much leisurely pace, highest speed a bit over 70, averaged 34.1 mpg ... stopped by the Childress Winery on the way back ===> https://www.myrvtalk.com/forum/rv-de...y-lexington-nc .... the place was packed, don't ever recall seeing it so busy .... Maureen stocked up, Richard Childress can afford to wreck at least one car in tomorrow's race ..Jim
