On Friday our youngest son is slated to fly to Nicaragua on a mission trip for his church ..... he is scheduled to spend a week drilling a well and installing a water/irrigation system in a poor rural village .... thoughts and prayers for the success of the project and for the safe return of those in his party are requested

Never made one of those trips. Several friends have and a Plant Manager I worked for went every year somewhere in the world. Your boy's in Good Company Jim.

We have been on a couple to West Virginia and New Orleans/ Slidell and St. Genevieve, Mo. over the years. Mostly cooking units after a natural disaster. Several were building handicapped ramps in NC. Another was carpentry and sheetrock and what they refer to as "mudout".

It was a fulfilling and enlightening experience to see what nature can do to others and be involved in helping in the recovery.

this is his second mission trip .... the first was to India .... that trip was an eyeopener for him and for us as well .... while we certainly support his decision to go on such trips, we can't help but to be concerned

My grandson is spending 2 months next summer in Zimbabwe, working with 2 missionaries. Talk about anxiety for us!

our son's mission team flight is in the air and headed for Miami .... only a little over 1,000 miles left on that flight .... if all goes well he should be back to RDU around midnight .... we will all breathe much easier when we know he's back

he's back on American soil in Miami .... 3 hr layover .... flight appears to be on time so his arrival is still anticipated around midnight .... I find Flight Aware to be a good site for tracking flights
