No rain or wind yet in Charleston. I guess today will be the day it may get here.

the leading edge of the eye is over Wilmington ..... some rain with steady wind (weather channel says 22 mph, anticipating it to get into the low to mid 30's) just south of Raleigh .... looking at the radar, Raleigh is on the northern edge of the storm and Charleston is on the southern edge ....

more and more power flickering off and on, most likely wind blown branches touching power lines .... wouldn't be surprised if we have to move into the camper at any moment

Still no change here in Charleston except gusty. Partly cloudy and very congested. We had to go out for food and everyone is at the only grocery open on James Island, Publix. I never saw a grocery store so empty and things going off the shelf faster than the employees could restock.

Heavy rain and wind is expected later today by dark.

Just started sprinkling rain. Now the forecasters are guessing that we may be spared any heavy rain and very little wind. The storm is weakening and turning north enough to miss us except for a little on the coast.

                    What a weird storm.

Hope you are not affected any worse.

We had less than 1/2 inch of rain and winds were less than 30 mph. More rain and breezy today. The 4 grand we spent on tree trimming and removal in the last 6 months made me feel like I got a bargain on this storm. I had no worries of a tree falling.

Johns Island, Angel Oak , had less than we did. It's looking there are many who had more damage than us.
It must be the slowest storm ever after coming ashore.

its hard to believe the eye of Florence is well ashore in SC and even though it has weakened considerably, we are still getting bands of heavy wind and rain .... Florence is causing major flooding in our are .... about all we get is standing water .... contrast the first 3 pictures taken out of our front door today with 3 taken during Hurricane Matthew back in Oct 2016 .... scattered power outages are all around us .... 2500EU Honda generator purchased after Hurricane Fran in 1996 as been running at the home of our youngest son's in-laws for the last 30 some hours .... no clue when they will get their power back .... all in all, things are going as well as can be expected

the pictures in the post above were taken about 10:45 this morning .... the ones shown below were taken before 1:30pm .... as can be seen, the water is now over the road .... that's as high as it gets for us .... the other side of the road drops off into a pretty deep valley (for lack of better term) that runs for miles and the bottom of which is at least 90' below the road ... having water go over the road takes a very significant rain but does happen from time to time

delighted to report that for the first time in a week we had patches of clear blue sky for most of the day .... right now we can hear the rumble of thunder in the distance and according to weather radar we could easily have a visit from a thunderstorm around 3AM .... after tonight, we are most happy to see no more rain in the forecast for a week or so .... rivers from our area to the cost will continue to rise for a couple of days and that's very bad news for the folks along the river banks .... this is the first time I've seen flooded roads completely cut Wilmington off from the rest of the state .... a major resupply effort (including food flown in) is underway .... Florence has been responsible for at least 32 deaths

so happy to be able to say its a beautiful morning in the neighborhood .. .. 75 degrees, clear blue sky, little to no wind .... what a wonderful change from those of the week spent with Hurricane Florence .... its still too wet to mow and grass is really growing .... in another day or two it will probably need to be baled ..
