260.8 miles / 5 hr 17 min with a single fuel stop after leaving home we are setup in the East Asheville KOA .... at times we drove through heavy rain, at times light misting rain, at times over dry roads .... came upon one bad wreck (thankfully on the other side of a divided highway) between a semi and work van .... if the driver of the van walked away, he/she is a very lucky person .... more thunderstorms are predicted from now until well after we are supposed to be back on the road Monday morning

What drought conditions? I had to put pontoons and a trolling motor on my lawn tractor.

good wishes appreciated and understand on the rain .... it is supposed to set in here later today and once it starts, it is supposed to set in for a good while .... we plan to load everything but the last minute stuff this morning ; as well as, to hookup .... sounds like we will be driving through rain most all day and we expect it to rain most of the time between our arrival and when we pull out on Monday morning .... shouldn't be a major issue unless the creek that runs through the campground gets out of its banks

thankfully the rain forecasted for today hasn't materialized .... most of our morning was spent taking things from the house out to the camper .... for the most part our major packing is complete .... an unexpected need for a trip to Sam's materialized, we were able to work it in along with having to pickup our soon to be grandson from daycare .... tomorrow we plan to move food and other such supplies to the camper, hopefully, the rain they are calling for tomorrow will take its time getting here ....

2 more days at home .... 20+ days without any rain and with us due to pull out Saturday morning, its been raining every day .... 100% chance of rain/thunderstorms on Friday so we must come as close as we can to completing packing tomorrow .... if the forecast is correct, we should be in and out of rain for our entire first day's drive to Western NC

with rain forecasted to be on the way, we've gotten serious about moving thing into the camper .... hopefully by later this afternoon we will have most of our clothing and larger electronic equipment (printers, food sealer, crock pots, etc) out there and stored .... Dry Lube PTFE Spray needed to lube the pistons in our auto leveling system ordered, should be here Friday .... tomorrow we start precooling our Yeti cooler that is mounted on the carrier on the back of our camper .... tire pressure monitoring system activated, all's good ....perimeter critter defense system (AKA mouse traps) inspected, delighted to find all's good ....

4 days until we are due to head west .... our first planned stop after leaving home this coming Saturday morning is to take on fuel at a Flying J on I-40 just west of Durham .... to make sure we have ample fuel in the truck's tanks we road over to a local station and took on 15 gallons of fuel .... packing continues .... periods of rain now in the forecast between now and Friday could easily complicate things

yep, that's why we had to change our route .... right now my concern is the flooding near Davenport, IA .... we aren't scheduled to go through there until the 12th, hopefully things will have settled down a bit by then

This looks like something that may change day to day.

I saw yesterday that only 4 Missouri River crossings were open.

3 in Omaha and 1 in St Joseph.

    Stay safe!

7 days from right now we should be setup in Asheville, NC following our first day's drive .... the long range forecast is calling for the temp to be in the upper 70's with a 50% chance of thunderstorms .... first thing this morning we drove over to Benson where we picked up more sausage to smoke .... after getting it back home loading it in our smoker, things settled down for a very sort while .... our youngest son came over and we took the boat out of mothballs .... she fired up and he drove off to run it through a car wash, they plan to spend the day tomorrow at a local lake.... while we were working on the boat, I put our oldest grandson to mowing .... we now have 20 more lbs of smoked sausage, the boat runs great and the yard has been mowed .... some days are truly better than others ..

8 days to go .... Maureen finished shampooing the camper's carpet .... it will never look new but it sure looks better .... on tap later today a hopefully quick trip to a family range to zero a rifle that will be taken on the trip .... as is to be expected, today's pre-trip efforts were interrupted by needing to take care of 3 grandchildren this morning and pickup another from daycare later today .... those who live near their grandchildren will understand ..
