traffic proved to be a bit heavier than expected but we made the trip just fine ....if the Suburban's onboard indicator is correct she pulled down 21 mpg .... that's pretty much in keeping with the mileage our daughter gets on her 2017 .... it appears to be a fine vehicle

You guys should like that vehicle a bunch. I know your daughters is a 2017 but the updates should be noticeable. That’s nice that they came to the plate to help you out. I don’t know what the timeframe is but after a warranted has been out of service for so many days GM provides a like vehicle for the customers use. Even if it is a brand new one that they have to give you. It used to be through Enterprise car rental but I don’t know how they handle something like that today. Could be your deanship is trying its best to keep you and your family happy based on your long term relationship with them. Enjoy Thanksgiving.

our travel plans have taken an unexpected turn .... our travel vehicle was to be our Daughter's 2017 Suburban .... its radio isn't just a radio .... it has the Navigation, exterior camera and several other functions .... over a week ago, to put it in highly technical terms, its radio went nuts .... removing the radio involves considerable time in taking the dash apart .... first they reflashed its program, when that didn't correct the problem they removed the OEM radio and installed a new one .... problem remained .... GM dealer support called in and per their instructions, extensive testing began .... a third radio was installed yesterday and guess what, yep the issue remained ..... more consultation with GM .... by mid morning it had become clear that her Suburban wouldn't be ready in time for us to head west in the morning .... got a call from our dealership and was delighted to hear that they wanted to provide us with a 2020 Suburban for our trip .. .. its now sitting out back loaded with everything but out last minute items ..

we are still slated to pull out and head west to Asheville fairly early on Wednesday morning .... the weather forecast has been consistent predicting we will drive through rain for most of the 300 mile drive.... rain slated to move eastward around noon with no more predicted over the holiday ....

We have some friends that come down from about 60 miles away. They spend the winter in Gold Canyon Az from Canada. Going to be cooking a 15 pounder on our charcoal grill with all the fixins.

We always have T-day dinner at my youngest kiddo's house in San Antonio. Wife drives over in the morning and they fuss over making all the eats. I think it is what makes the day special... momma-daughtrer bonding thing? Anyway, I head into town when they call me and tell me that chow will be ready in an hour. It is usually at least two hours but we always enjoy an oven roasted bird and all the trimmings. My kiddo always contacts me a few weeks before and asks me what desert I want. This year is will be BLACKBERRY PIE which is my very favorite.

The smoke smell when you open the package is REALLY strong. So much so that some folks are turned off right there. We have found that if you eat the skin... the smoke flavor is really heavy. If you don't eat the skin... it's perfect for our taste. It is not over powering at all.

I do save the skin for the purpose of putting it in with any that we save as we have found that helps to preserve the flavor.

Once I was introduced to them, I started buying them as holiday gifts for all my sales people. To date, I have yet to find someone who doesn't say it isn't the best turkey they've ever had.

Not to mention the prep time / work that it saves for the wife...

We usually end up with 3-4 bags for leftover turkey that I vacuum seal w/ a piece of the skin (to retain the smoke flavor). We have opened them nearly a year later... and they are still just as good as day one.
