thankfully, day 4's drive went well .... beautiful, cool weather .... we covered 292.1 miles in 5 hrs 18 months with 2 fuel stops .... the first stop was just west of Columbia, MO at a Love's Truck Stop were we only took on 10 gallons .... the reason for the stop was to ensure we had sufficient fuel to make a Petro Truck Stop in Oak Grove, MO where the price was much better .... at that second stop we 82.7 gallons .... over the 727.7 miles we had covered since our last filled our tank we averaged 8.8 mpg .... we are now setup at Victorian Acres RV Park in Nebraska City, NE ===> https://victorianacresrvpark.com/ where we will spend our last night of this year's drive to South Dakota .... the weather for tomorrow's drive looks good

our journey to Estelline is over .... today we covered 332.6 miles in 5 hr 26 min .... an unexpected 40 mile detour was the major bummer .... all together we've covered 1,681.5 miles in 28 hrs 52 min driving time .... during that time we averaged 58.2 mph which ain't too bad .... much of our standard setup has been completed, the rest will be taken care of tomorrow .... hopefully will have some pictures to post

rain moved through sometime during our first night of this stay in Estelline .... I heard very light rain around 5AM but slept through the rest .... no more rain forecasted for today but its supposed to be pretty wet around here tomorrow .... so, outdoor site setup will be paused until Monday .... the town has largely recovered from the storm discussed in this thread ====> https://www.myrvtalk.com/forum/rv-de...e10#post391606 in post 133 through 137 ....

we awoke to a beautiful, typically windy morning in East Central South Dakota .... rain is supposed to be on the way .... per the written forecast rain is on the way .... per the weather radar, the front should fizzle out and go south of us .... one of Maureen's brothers, his wife and one of their granddaughters came by for breakfast .... if the rain holds off we hope to finish our site setup today

yet another cloudy but nice morning in East Central South Dakota .... depending on the forecast you look at, rain is suppose to be on the way .... back home we know which sources tend to be the most accurate but out here we don't have a clue .... the Minnesota Twins has given the town of Estelline a grant to rebuild its baseball field .... work is underway, the infield is really looking good .... breakfast passed earlier this morning, depending on if the rain comes or not, we may smoke some chicken this afternoon

talk about a beautiful day, this has most certainly been one .... after completing our setup we fired up our Davy Crockett smoker this morning and smoked a section of port tenderloin and some baking potatoes .... tomorrow evening we will slice the loin into some chops and prepare the taters as twice baked .... with the price of diesel, we are making a strong effort to maximize what gets done each time we crank our truck .... example: we left camp a 3:30PM and drove 20 some miles to Walmart in Brookings to drop off a prescription, then to the local Culver's for a burger, on to a community park to watch a 8 year old niece play coach pitch softball, from there back to Walmart to pickup the meds and grocery shop, from there back to the camper where we are settled in for the evening

another beautiful morning in east central South Dakota .... 71 with a light breeze on its way to 87 .... no rain in the forecast until well after midnight .... one of the things we enjoy out here is family members dropping by .... making their own pizza is a favorite .... even the youngest member of the family enjoys supervising the process

as forecasted by AccuWeather, shortly after 2AM a strong thunderstorm rumbled through .... strong, almost continuous, flashes of lightening could be seen for thirty or so minutes before the first rumble of thunder could be heard .... when it finally arrived, it dumped a short but heavy deluge of rain .... they say more rain will fall this morning but it sure doesn't show on the statewide radar .... no major plans for today and with a forecasted RealFeel® 101°, that's a good thing

we awoke to a windy morning in east central SD .... high today in the low 80's but the forecast is calling for major heat over the weekend ... our tank sensor monitor is failing .... a replacement should arrive tomorrow .... I've never messed with one so I have no clue as to how complicated the replacement will be

overnight rain left plenty of puddles on the pavement .... more is predicted before the clouds move on in a couple of hours .... a 40+ mile round shopping trip drive to Brookings is on tap .... diesel cost makes us plan such trips so as to get the most out of them .... Friday morning our daughter and her son are scheduled to fly from home to Sioux Falls .... that necessitates a 140+ mile round trip which will have to be repeated to take them back on Saturday of next week .... on both trips we plan to leave Sioux Falls with our truck's tanks full of diesel .... its much cheaper down there than it is in the area around where we are camped ....

I've mentioned South Dakota wind several times .... per AccuWeather, right now a steady 21 mph wind out of the WNW with gust to 43 mph

Take a look at "Wind Compass" app. Easy to read wind speed, gust and directions. I have accuweather also , but like Wind Compass to check winds
