We love camping at Refugio. However, the poor saps who were scheduled to camp there over the holiday weekend are out of luck. They had to close the campground because of the oil spill yesterday.

Yah, first and foremost, I hate the environmental impact. So, imagine a long dissertation about that here.

Now, I'm one of the poor saps who got their holiday weekend camping plans cancelled by this. :wall: So, we're three days before one of the biggest camping weekends of the year and we lose our reservations. We should be able to get reservations somewhere, right? Guess I'm cleaning out the garage this weekend. AAAARGH!!!!!!

Just head north to San Luis Dam, you could get lucky in one of those spots.
If not, they always have dry camping down below in the forbay area.

We have a very seldom-used Thousand Trails membership. We ended up in glorious Acton for the weekend. Not particularly pretty, but at least we got to get out.

The situation at Santa Barbara is really sad. My in-laws had some friends drive by and just by driving by, their motorhome stunk for over an hour, even with the windows open. I think it may be a while until the area returns to normal.
