we camped once again at Blackhawk Valley from May 4 - 6, 2017 .... very little appears to have changed from the pictures shown above .... their $35 charge for a full hookup site remains the same ... no problem getting a satellite signal with our roof mounted dish but it appears that would not be true for most sites .... as can be seen in both pictures below, pull through sites are of a back to back style where 2 campers share the same utility hookup area .... they are very narrow with little space between the campers .... CG sewer connections can still be complicated, as can be seen in the angle of our white rain gutter type support in picture 2 below .... with the vast majority of their sites being occupied by long term rentals, reservations are recommended

6-20-14 .... we are overnighting at Blackhawk Valley Campground in Rockford .... it is a nice looking, well kept campground with good gravel roads and sites .... our $35 a night pull through site (#74) is reasonably level, has 50/30 amp service, water and sewer hookups .... only negatives to the sites : 1. because of the proximity to the tree line, a ground mounted satellite dish may have trouble locking onto a signal .... with our roof mounted dish, we were able to connect with a Direct with no problem .... I do not know how satellite location would affect locking onto service from Dish .... 2. sewer connections are elevated to the point that most connections will result in a "J-trap" configuration .... 3. water tested at 250 ppm which is rated as Very Hard .... 4. its a bit further off of the interstate than we like for an overnight park .... 5. its located down in a depression which doesn't help the phone reception ..... the folks who run the place are friendly and seem to want to be very helpful .... our GPS brought is straight into the park .... all in all, we would stay here again

info appreciated .... still unsure when we will get away from Quadra so we are making contingency plans .... looking for an easy off, easy on somewhere on I-39 near Rockford .... we plan to take 80 from White Pigeon to where it intersects 39 just north of Peru .... I know it would shorter to go through and up the west side of Chicago but I just ain't gonna go that way

    Haven't stayed there...

We have stayed at the following in approximate area:
Pine Country RV Campground - about 15 miles east of Blackhawk CG
    O'Connells Jellystone RV Resort
    - about 40 miles south of Blackhawk CG

Of the two... Pine Country would be better suited for an overnight stop.
