  • Baton Rouge KOA

we overnighted at the Baton Rouge KOA on Dec 28/20, 2008 .... it is an old park that has apparently been well maintained .... while they had many open sites, most appear to be in use for long term stay ....

positives ====> staff went out of their way in very rainy conditions to be helpful and locate us on a site that was level and long enough to where we didn't have to unhook .... 50 amp (but not as strong as we have had in most other CG's but still OK) .... good water pressure .... sewer placement is good .... 70 channel park cable .... most sites I say have paved patios .... close to the interstate but far enough away to be very quiet

negatives ====> water pretty heavy with chlorine .... no clear view of the southern sky .... no listing provided for park cable channels .... you have to really watch to see the small direction signs on the way from the interstate to the park

$35 a night with our KOA discount card .... would stop here again if we are in this area

There are some sites that have a clear shot to the satellites. Just to the right of the check-in office, across the road from the pool and beside the work sheds, there are about 3-4 long sites on concrete that I could get the satellite signal from. I had to set the dish outside by the front of the truck, but I got it.

It has been a couple years since we were there, but I assume that the sites are still in use.

Of course! They have to water the trees that block the satellites!

I could have most probably gotten a signal if I'd of up out our portable dish .... below are a some pictures of our site from which the trees blocking the signal can be seen .... as you can see, it was beyond wet ..

we overnighted once again at the Baton Rouge KOA on 12-28-13 .... no use taking many more pictures, can't see anything different from those already posted .... that includes the standing water, its really wet here ....

positives : staff working the desk when we arrived are work campers who were extremely helpful .... changed our site based on a request for a level pull through with a clear view of the southern sky .... we got just that and didn't have to unhook which will help in the morning .... GPS got us here with ease

negative : price has gone up to $47 a night with our KOA discount card

$47 a night in Winter after discount, must have gold lined restrooms with that rate.

My takeaway from this thread... any time you book a stay at that park... leave the area --- it's going to rain.

that would most certainly seem to be the case .... and I don't mean just rain a little bit

12-29-15 .... we once again overnighted at the Baton Rogue KOA .. their price with a KOA discount card continues to rise ..... $35 on 12-29-2008 / $47 on 12-28-2013 / $55 on 12-29-15 .... an increase in the number of paved sites was noted .... workers friendly .... bottom line, they have about priced themself out of our market .... that said, they were pretty much full so folks seem willing to pay it .... we have booked a site on our return trip but will be watching for other campgrounds as we drive through there

That went past my threshold of pain. One reason I tend to avoid KOA's.

that was our first choice but when we called for a reservation, we were told that during the holiday period they only book longer stays and would not take one for a overnight stay
