I love the sound of B52s

I have lived in Bossier City, La. since the mid 70s, and even worked at Barksdale (when I was a teen). I believe that campground is likely near the East Reservation at the base? I don't get on base often anymore, even though I live close. When people have come to visit, they always ask "what the hell is that?". I usually say "what?". Because, I'm used to hearing the bombers fly over. Then, I always say "I'm just glad that they're OUR's", and not some other govt's planes. My wife and I were military dependents, and our Dads were stationed here. We've been married 31 years, and are very supportive of our troops, and Barksdale. We lost one of my best friends - father in law (buried in Arlington National Cemetary) about 4 years ago, and now we take care of my mother in law. My mother in law is a wonderful lady. She deserves the best, and we do what we can to make sure has what she wants/needs. She often travels with us, on some RV trips.

The campground photo looks cool. That would be too close for me to go RVing, if I lived on base, or near the base. It is only minutes away. I suppose with retirees (military) coming to the area to gamble, or whatever, that base campground is perfect. And, I'm sure that the price is right, and it is VERY secure and safe.

            Love our planes

Great photo of the B52, Tirehobby. Looks like it was taken at the museum at the base (B'dale)?

I sent the FamCamp link you posted, to various of our RV bunch of friends (LIARS - Louisiana Independent Association of Recreation Specialists). We've all seen the East Reservation parks, and seen tent campers, but never an RV park. But, we haven't been out in that area of the base in a long time. The last time I was at the base (about a year ago), was to pick up a BIG screen TV at the BX for my mother in law. Glad I have an 8ft. bed in the truck. The base has changed. There's a new commissary (I used to bag groceries and stock shelves there when I was only15 or 16). The BX is kind of like a mini-mall.

That picture was taken at the USAF museum located at Ellsworth, AFB near Rapid City, SD. They have a great FAMCAMP there. The picture below is of our parking site when we took the B-52 picture.

                Nice rig, truck...and camp spot

                TireHobby,

Good photo of your camp spot. Do these FamCamps offer full-hookups? Nice rig you have there, too. I dig the truck. That truck is certainly up to the task of pulling that trailer.

I'll google and see if there's at FamCamp at the base near Destin, Fl. We plan to hit the white sands this summer, and a friend of mine in the radio business (lives in Pensacola) said there are some nice RV parks that are actually on the beach? My Dad lives in Destin, and along with visiting him, I plan to enjoy a meal at Dewey's of Destin. Not a pretty place, but the seafood is great, and the iced tea is perfect. It's where the "locals" go.
