  • New York Theater

We will be in NY in June for 4 days. We have tickets to a Yankees game and Mets game. We want to go to a Broadway show. Seems like many of the theaters are located near Central Park. Our plan would be to go to the Empire State building, Time Square, Central Park (probably a carriage ride), somewhere for dinner then to the Theater on 52 or 49th street.

My question is where to go for dinner in that area? Any suggestion?

Judy...I was born and raised in NYC. It has been a very long time since we have been back and I'm sure things have changed. There are so many places to eat it's hard to recommend one. Even the McDonalds in Times Square is something to behold. Things are pricey there.....but you'll have a great time.

        Littlestar,

All the themed restaurants are in Times Square. There are a number of other nice places to eat around town. What are your food preferences? If you like Irish food and drink you could try Annie Moores Bar & Restaurant, 50 East 43rd Street (212) 986-7826. It is right across the street from Grand Central Station. There are a number of other good places, but give me some idea of what you would like?

Thanks for the replies folks! We are pretty much open. It would be fun to go to a unique place. My daughters husband doesn't eat fish but most fish places usually serve additional things.

We enjoy a good steak, Italian, Chinese, Greek, and, well I'm pretty much open!

I was born & raised in Queens. I worked for 5 years in Manhatten before begging for a transfer to anywhere to get out of there.... You haven't lived till you ridden on the Lexington Ave subway line in the middle of summer during rush hour.... I used to ride between cars just to get away from the stink.

I have not been back in some 30 years. But, when we were there, we used to love going to Chinatown and finding some little eatery down in the basement of some building. Usually, nobody spoke english and you had to point to what you wanted on the menu. But, it was terrific... :applause: Sometimes the little out of the way places are better than the big places. I would be surprised if any of the places we ate out at are still there.

Unfortunately, the best steak house is Peter Lugars; but that is in Brooklyn.

There's also a nice Chinatown...down near Walls Street; again a ride.
