  • Raleigh Oaks RV Resort and Cabins ... Four Oaks, NC

thread Edited again 3-21-15 to reflect that this CG has changed its name again to the Raleigh Oaks RV Resort and Cabins

thread Edited 1-7-15 to reflect that this CG has changed hands and is now named Four Oaks RV Resort .... comments added on page 3

over the years we have stayed at the Smithfield KOA many times .... we will once again be there with our camping club from Aug 10 - 12, 2012 .... the often used term, "typical KOA" would pretty much sum things up .... it is located at Exit 90 on I-95 in NC where it is very easy to get on and off of the interstate .... a good number of its sites are occupied by long term campers, many of whom are working at various construction projects in the area .... it is conveniently located in relation to outlet malls which are a major draw for the area .... $42 a night for a 50 amp pull through without the 10% KOA Member Card discount .... will be posting some pictures later

    Correct Assessment

You very politely expressed my opinion, Kathy and I have stayed there at least 3 times over the last nine years and my opinion is the same as yours. What annoyed my the most was when they stuck us on a horrible uneven site at the rear of the campground. A spot reserved for non-KOA members. I found that out from a man who was walking his two dogs and stayed their for the month of February.
I think your other recommended campground is a better spot.

yep .... not one of our favorites and frankly, the only reason we go there is to camp with our club .... the ladies in the club like it because of its close proximity to the outlet mall .... they also have a building with good AC that the club can use to eat and for a meeting

        OK

I figured it was that or close to the southern NC members.

a few pictures .... as a side note, since our last time there, they have worked to make their sites more level .... also, ants are everywhere and friendly isn't an adjective one can us to describe the work camper who seemed to be around the most of the time

            I'd have to agree

That since I've been there they have done quite a bit of site work. But I don't like the sound or sight of ANTS! I probably wouldn't see any in February but I'm sure they would be there in May.

Typical KOA... Crammed in like sardines.
I avoid any KOA if at all possible.

                Over Night

We always stayed there overnight on our way to or from Florida. That way I could keep my wife away from the outlets!

PS Jeff - on the east coast that's not tight, we have places that do much much better than that.

we use a KOA when it is convenient to us .... they are usually close to the main roads which saves us time getting in and out

                    Your Right

I'm just looking for a safe place with good electricity to lay my head down and then head out the next morning. A few unknown places on I95 have surprised me, they were really decent places for an overnight, no so much a week stay but if I had no choice they would do. This is one.

It's a one way street, never got a response from any of them.
