I can read reviews all day long, but I like to hear about people's personal experience when we are looking for a campground. Has anyone had personal experience at any of these campgrounds near Charlotte, NC?

    1. Glenwood Acres - Concord, on the outskirts of Charlotte
    2. Yates Family Campground - Harrisburg, on the edge of Charlotte
    3. McDowell Nature Preserve (a bit more rustic) on the southwest edge of Charlotte

And while I'm asking, has anyone camped at the Rutledge Lake Resort, an Escapee campground in Fletcher, NC (near Asheville)?

    Thanks for your input.

no experience with any of those three .... we have been to the Tom Johnson Camping Racing Resort - Concord, NC .... it has to be close to Glenwood Acres .... pretty much wide open CG that is setup for handling race traffic .... doubt there would be much difference ... no clue on price

We have camped at McDowell nature preserve several times. Ok but no sewer.
      It's not on the water.

We like Ebeneezer County Park just in SC at Rock Hill. Right oh Lake Wylie. Full hookups and good wifi.

just curious .... when do you guys plan to be in the Charlotte area .... when in Asheville

we haven't camped in Fletcher which is just south of Asheville but do routinely camp at Hominy Valley which is just west of Asheville .... we do recommend Hominy Valley

Hominy Valley is good for a few days, but a bit too small for two weeks.

The Charlotte & Asheville stays are two different stays.

Ebeneezer Park sounds like an option for us. We wouldn't be going into Charlotte every day anyway. It also means we might need to change our route a bit, but that's okay.

            Thanks, Norty.

there is now a second Hominy Valley that might be worth looking at .... cost wise, it would be much cheaper than those in the area

when will you be in the Charlotte area

We stayed there for 3 months a few years back right after the new owners took over Rutledge Lake. We moved out and stayed at Lakewood in East Flat Rock, right beside Hendersonville. Much better park in our opinion. At Rutledge Lake, the back in sites over lap and you can have someone's camper beside yours. Very crowded on weekends and noisy. Thought the price was high for what you got.

Lakewood is more adult oriented but does allow children, just not a lot for them to do. Very clean, quiet, Saturday night activities, cookouts, dances, nice onsite workout area, pool. Sites are very good sized, a lot of pull throughs and good location.

We took Norty's suggestion and have made reservations just across the border in Rock Hill. Thankfully, they had two spaces left for over Labor Day. Whew! I was cutting it too close this year.

We'll be in the Charlotte area for two weeks, from 27 Aug to 9 Sep. Will you be passing through?

Well we are sitting at Ebenezer CP with our club until Monday. Was wondering what your impression was of this park?
