I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
The things that come to those that wait will be the scraggly crappy junk left by those that got there first.

Thanks, Jim. Interesting article. Sounds like your fuel taxes will always have a place to be spent.

The last lines of the article pretty much say it all - "There's only one way to fix it so it won't slide, and that's to just flatten the slope out. And you might have to blast all the way to Tennessee to do that.”

INEPTOCRACY: a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Well they have only spent 15% of the stimulus package.
Maybe they will toss some that way.

                    update

I-40 is still blocked at NC mile marker 3 and current projections are that it will be "several months" before the it reopens ..... folks traveling on I-40 are being directed to take Exit 46 and get on I-26 west (Exit 31 on I-26) should expect traffic delays .... we usually head out west in May/June and aren't going on the assumption that I-40 will be open by then

                      I just read that article.
The old way of going to county seat, to county seat, don't seem to be working.
If that state still wants to keep making repairs on something that is going to need more repairs, they should foot the bill, or change their laws.
Its there laws not our law.
But they don't have a problem spending our $ on interstates.

And this guy they called the bulldog didn't have the knowlege we have today.
But instead of changing their ways with the Gov. in charge you can bet they will just keep throwing our money at it.
                      Thats the governments way.
The interstate should stop just short of that area.

That should be a permant detour.
From what the engineers have said it will never be solid ground.
How many will have to die before this is done?

New rockslide hits closed portion of I-40

                              FYI:
                              According to WRAL-TV News today:

North Carolina Department of Transportation officials say a new rockslide in the closed section of Interstate 40, just west of Harmon’s Den exit 7, brought down 50 dump-truck-loads worth of rock.

The new rockslide occurred about four miles east of the previous one, covering a 40-by-50 foot area. The largest rock in 500 cubic yards of it was the size of a sport utility vehicle.
Agency officials estimate cleanup will take several weeks. They still project the interstate to fully reopen in March.
