Hocking Hills Campground: Cabin, Campers and Tents with fishing lake and paddleboats shuffleboard. Happy Hills Campghround - Nelsonville Ohio

This is a GREAT campground for familys that want a slow paced quiet campground. They have a huge pond that has 3 diffrent docks to fish off of as well as paddle boats, with hopes of getting new ones soon.

The owners of this campground were very helpful, and willing to help w/o a doubt. Daren and Lorriane were always there with a smile and a helping hand. They have several full hook up sites and a few electric and water sites. They had spent the winter months working to make the grounds more rv friendly w/o loosing the " campground" feel. There are hiking trails around the park. several kid friendly "short cuts" to the park and craft barn area.
Very pet frienly as long as you clean up after your pawed friends.

Be prepared there is no cable tv. But there is cell phone service for most carriers. There is a pool for use but anyone under the age of 14 must be with a guardian.

they are located only 8 miles from atv trails for those that enjoy them. There are more then 47 miles of trails in the nelsonville area.

they have a small office that is stocked with some of the more common needed supplies. We happed to need both bug spray and rope. and they had both.

remember to take your fishing poles and gear and your best lawn chair to sit back and wait for the fish to bite.

i can not stress enough how helpful, friendly and fun this campground was.

we stayed on site 64. with a 38 ft travel trailer.

we enjoyed this campground so well the first time that when we had plans in the area again we made a weekend out of it. They had a halloween themed weekend going on, and seams like they have had them all summer long.

We had a group of friends that rented the fast traxx in Nelsonville ohio.

Even tho cole has a broken collar bone at this time, he found plenty of things he could do. they had a hay ride each night they had a treasure hunt for age groups. that he really enjoyed. b/c they have some campers that are seasonal they dressed up and handed out clues when the kids found the next stop on the map.

the views of changing trees were great. we took all back roads, used a bit more gas but at this time of teh year you cant pass up the back roads that show you the hidden views.

Next time you go back, try a meal out at LaCascada Mexican Restaurant in Logan. I highly recommend it.

No trip to Nelsonville is complete without a stop at Rocky.

I am curious if there was any white knuckle driving getting to the campground.

there are country roads that are curvy. david is well seasoned in the 4 or so months hes been driving the 38 ft tt. he actually likes country roads more so then major interstate roads bc their is always going to be that guy who thinks he can out run you in the enter lane. then we have to worry about putting the breaks on at the last min. david says we may put air horns on for this very reason. really.

usually when we camp its for quiet family times and those meals that sometimes take more effort to fix, eating out just doesn't fit in our camping plans. but someone may like that detail.

          Hocking Hills

The Campground owner told us when we arrived after taking Hwy 278 out of Nelsonville, that we could pull our camper anywhere in the USA once we made it up over the one long steep hill. At that time, my 86 GMC (350 engine) almost did not pulling a 32' trailer. A really neat place where you can hear coyotes howling at night.
