This was the second stop in a 3 week trip out west.
We left Memphis in the morning and drove to Tulsa Oklahoma to spend the night. We wanted to get on Route 66 for this part of the trip. We stayed at the Will Rogers downs KOA in Claremore about 20 minutes NE of Tulsa. The first day we got there early enough to see several Route 66 sites on our list. The koa was typical koa, clean and basic. The horse track was right behind our site and we enjoyed watching horses/riders practicing before heading out. The sites are all level, the facilities are clean and work well, the management was friendly, access in and out was easy. Satellite TV access was great with no trees in the way. It worked well for our purposes. We spent one night and left the next morning for Amarillo TX.

Oh, we ate dinner at a place in Tulsa called The Gusher, a steak house. The food, the service and the atmosphere were great and they're kid friendly...but it's not a kid restaurant either. Just a good place to grab good food.
