Thousand Trails Chesapeake CG, Glens, Va.

Thousand Trails is a members only national organization with campgrounds from ocean to ocean, this tread is being posted due to interest from numerous members of this forum who are also members of Thousand Trails

The Chesapeake Preserve is one of our favorites ... historically we spend 6-8 weeks a year there and with both of us now being retired, that number will most likely go up .... it is one of Thousand Trails 5 campgrounds in the state of Virginia:

several pictures below were taken on Oct. 22, 2007 .... you will note the leaves are in the process of making their fall color transition and it really is interesting how one tree will be in full color and the one next to it will be a green as if it were July .... there are numerous historic sites in this area and we have enjoyed visiting them .... the thing we have enjoyed the most is the numbers of folks from the forum that we have had the pleasure to meet over the years

update

Hurricane Irene (Sept 2011) damaged the pier (shown in the first picture in the second post in this thread) at Thousand Trails Chesapeake CG .... the pictures below show the damage .... we haven't seen any other indications of damage .... we visited the park over Halloween 2011 and it remains one of our favorites

we will be pulling out in a little while to return to Thousand Trails Chesapeake CG .... really looking forward to being there for the next two weeks .... their Halloween festivities are fun and the weather forecast for the coming week couldn't be more perfect .... the second week does look a bit iffy with much lower temps and a day or two of rain .... this will be our last long outing prior to pulling out for Texas in late December so we will be testing all systems

update

below are some pictures taken 10-22-12 .... as can be seen, the pier has been repaired (actually has been upgraded), the leaves are changing color, and the osprey population is growing
