There are also circulating pumps for home use that will keep hot water ready to go when you open the tap, with minimal electricity use. Pretty simple, mount at the water heater and there is a valve that fits in the line under the faucet furtherest from the tank.

we have been looking at these instant hot or tankless water heaters for some time. for our home. we have to haul water and store it in a below ground tank, because our shower is clear on the other size of the house it takes several mins for the shower to adjust to the right temp, and all that water is wasted. down the drain for nothen. we use to fill a 5 gallon bucket for the dogs outside but the bucket lost its handle and got dirty and its hard to carry thru the house.
i just wonder if it would do as well as our 50 gallon wh at home. David lives for super hot showers. It would have to get thru two showers in the morning my husband and my son cant wake up w/o a hot shower.

With a properly sized tankless water heater you can turn on the hot tap and it will heat the water forever w/o running out of heated water. We have never ran out since installing it last year!. Mine works on natural gas but it is available in propane also. Mine is a Rheem.
You need to check out the Chilipepper demand pump. Link posted earlier.
We too have been seriously considering a tankless water heater system here at home. Water in our area is really expensive compared to surrounding areas. I don't know why but it is. :Scratch-Head: Plus I would like to get rid of the water heater in the garage and install a wash basin instead.
I like the idea of saving water in the RV though. We do mostly boondocking type camping and it would be a great help to not run out of water so quickly. Thanks for the ideas guys!
:ylw_off_topic: Sorry for kinda hijacking the thread. I have never had a boat or RV that was big enough to need that type system but it is amazing how little and even large problems can be solved by people who see a need!

Don't ya'all have a TSC, Southern States, or even a WalMart where you can buy a new bucket? I know there are farm supply stores and I think there is a fairly new Walmart in your area. :laughter:

When we are traveling and going to have a shower in the morning I will usually fill the coffee pot with water from the shower. That way we eliminate some of the cold water in the lines without wasting it. Also a quart or so that dose'nt go in the tank
I brush my teeth with the water flow, while waiting for hot to shave. Or just take a pan at the kitchen, alomost instant hot, and pour it in the wash basin. We are still talking RV? Bill
A few years ago some guy posted his water-saving method to rv.net. I swear it's true. He installed a small water pump on his shower drain and re-used rinse water until rinsed off! :Scratch-Head: I wonder if he spent the money he saved on water to buy deodorant?
