  • Kelly Kettle

earlier today a friend who tent camps, river fishes/floats in a kayak, and enjoys "shore lunches" mentioned a Kelly Kettle to me .... he has 2, the largest shown in the link and a smaller one for use when out in his Kayak .... to put it mildly, he uses the heck out of his .... we no longer do that kind of camping/cooking but sure wish I'd of known about them back when we did

My son and I have made these for years. You can use a saw or ax to make the cuts. We have seen these for sale at Lowe’s Hardware..
you can determine the size of fire by the size of log. The picture attached is one our first. If you google Swedish torch there is a metal top that doubles as a frame to hold it together and l level spot for cooking.

interesting .... I've seen pictures of them but never one in person .... do you pour kerosene or anything down the center to help get it to burn

We have found that lamp oil works best because it burns slower.

the Kelly Cooker is proof positive to me that just because I've never seen or even heard of something doesn't mean its got to be new .... the link below is to a site that discusses its history .... as noted, I wish I'd of known about it back with we were doing the type of camping and fishing where one could have really come in handy
