after looking at several options, I've ordered a LIGHT HOLE COVER (part 15 shown at this link) to use to cover the 3/4" diameter hole that had to be drilled into our Holland Companion so as to install the Smoke Daddy

I would think a conduit plug would work pretty well.
Going to try that on ours first.

        update

pictures showing the relatively simple way we chose to plug the 3/4" hole drilled in the back of our Holland grill .... the cover will be closed when the smoker isn't in use

yep, the horseshoe is used to level the grill and the door bell case has been there since the fire department had to crash through the back door .... a country boy will survive ..

Measured from the bottom of the old style , and the new folding style legs.
The one with folding legs to my surprise sits up about a 1/2 higher than the old one.
Me thinks that one is going to be tested first.
                For lid clearance.
                Not going to do both.

suggest you have the top and bottom caps on the Smoke Daddy while you are locating the place to drill the hole .... for me it is more important to have it placed where you can open the grill's lid which means it will most likely contact the table the grill is sitting on .... I can live with the way it is but if I had it to do over I would have mounted ours about a half inch lower .... it is no problem to place the grill where it can hang down over the table's edge

Or carry an extra set of horseshoes to raise it up.

Haven't ordered it yet, but you do have me convinced I really need one.
No I would'nt think of drilling first.
                      Measure twice, and cut once.
The lid will be opening normally when installed.
May even try mounting it on the side.
They could make them an inch shorter, and an inch wider.
Draft wouldn't mean anything if you had the pump on there.
Not sure they even consider draft.

to work, those horse shoes would have to be for Clydesdales ....

OK, I really like the Smoke Daddy .... OK, we anticipate using it often both at home and while traveling (next time will on or before this coming Sunday) .... OK, I want to make sure we have plenty of their hickory pellets .... bottom line, just ordered one or their 40 lb bags ..:jawdrop:.. did so because of free shipping and the cost per pound .... I do plan to use them in our big smoker as well

                            Keeper

Reads like you found a keeper.

What makes this smoker attachment so special?
From what I can see, it is a sealed container with an air pump that direct vents into whatever container you attach it to. Not that that isn't special.

:agree: .... your assessment of what it is and how it works is dead on the money .... what is special to me is, it is simple, well built, and works .... it allows us to enjoy smoked foods while traveling just as we do at home where we have a very large smoker .... it makes, what to my mind is, the best portable/camping grill out there even better .... I can only wish I'd of thought of it ..
