  • 2019 Income Taxes

on the morning of Monday, Jan 24th our daughter emailed us all of the forms/info needed to complete our 2019 State and Federal Income Taxes ..... later that evening we downloaded a tax program and completed our taxes .... we emailed the Federal forms that evening and took the State forms to a local post office the following morning .... by contract terms from the both of us retiring from working for the State of North Carolina we don't have to pay any state taxes on our retirement income .... with the bottom line on our state forms always be in $0, I don't seen any since in rushing the forms to them .... earlier today (the 27th) we received notice that the Federal forms had been accepted by the IRS .... last year our Federal refund was deposited in our account 9 days after it was accepted .... wonder how long it will be this year ...???

We are going to do our taxes today; been really busy around here with my sis and bro-in-law visiting. They are going to Boerne to some antique fest and we will get taxes done and filed today (most likely). What happened to the politico promise of doing taxes on a form the size of a post card?

doing our taxes is so basic that we should be able to do them on part of a post card but that'll never happen

If the country would wise up and go to a flat tax... everyone could do that. But, as stated, that'll never happen.

I was late filing our taxes. I didn't file until April 13th. Originally we were supposed to have our refund within 21 days. We are still waiting. The app just says still processing. I tried calling in, but got stuck in a telephone maze to be told the same thing and hung up on. I had a guy from work stop by the house last week to buy some eggs. He filed in February and is still waiting on his refund. We both filed electronically, but both aren't "normal" returns. His wife is a real estate agent and we have the farm. So maybe both of those get a "human eye" to look at. I filed my daughter's simple one W-2 and no exemptions and she got her refund in about 2 weeks.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you.

Ours was a simple one and I’ve also been waiting. My mom died early this year. My brother is handling her affairs. He found that her taxes haven’t been filed since 2015. The relative that was doing her returns just stopped and said nothing. Neat. Anyway my brother has spent numerous hours trying to get through to the IRS about what is owed and what to do. With the Covid-19 deal a lot of their agents started working at home, which slowed everything down. Also, from what I understand, all the stimulus money has been funneled through the IRS. It could be some time before refunds come from them. I think they are swamped. I’m not counting on the money any time soon.

Yes, before the IRS went on lockdown. Try to get anything done today and you’ll find a completely different situation. Some still haven’t received their stimulus checks, through no fault of their own.
