  • Ruger Mark lll

I am considering picking one of these up. The Mark lll 22/45 Bull Barrel. This one is no longer manufactured but several shops around still have them new and used. My buddy has one and he describes it as very accurate, fun to shoot, Ammo is cheap, and a go to gun for small varmets. Anyone have one of these? Any thoughts on it?

both of our sons have stainless Ruger Mark II's ====> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruger_MK_II

they are accurate, rugged, and dependable .... only caution I know of is to study all available info prior to undertaking a complete disassembly .... one of ours sons has mastered it, the other never has ....

I really like the stainless look. I have a revolver and 2 rifles in stainless and they are some of my favorites. I may have to look around some more!

It has to be an optical illusion but if you google Ruger MK III and go to Cabelas website on it they show pictures of multiple models. Look closely as the grip angle is different on some. Look at model 10140 and 10103.

I think it is different in order to give the same grip characteristics as a 1911 45 automatic. The interior of the grip may be designed so it will accept standard Ruger magazines.

The Cabelas website explains that the 22/45 has a different grip to closely match the grip on a model 1911 45 automatic.
If you look closely, the grip is farther back relative to the ejection port on the 22/45 models.

But all the pictures are supposed to be different models of the 22/45. I think they stuck in a few of the originals

I give up. I know the differences between the original Ruger and the 22/45 in regards to grip angle. All I was trying to point out was that there appeared to be a mixture of pictures in the ad that was supposed to be for the 22/45.

You are good. I am agreeing with you. Since I started hunting for one of these I have gone through various stages of being confused. I have seen pictures not matching the description with several sellers. The Mark lll was made from 2004-12/2016 and went through several changes alone the way. So there are a lot pictures floating around out there.

I really like the info released on the Ruger Mark IV .... its claim to fame is the change in design that allows it to be easily taken apart for cleaning .... hopefully while doing so they have kept the level of performance

This picture is a screen shot of the page that Googling as you suggested leads me to. It clearly says "Ruger Mark III and 22/45

In a gun shop yesterday a guy mentioned that they are difficult to clean. Jim also made reference to that in an above post. My buddy is an avid gun collector and has two mark 3's. He had it apart in just a few seconds. I found this and it seems to be a good reference as to how to do it.

I purchased it! It's a fun little gun to shoot. And Jim as you stated it can be a bear to put back together. I think I have it figured out now.
